The organiser of this contest is The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) ("the SPCA").
The photo submission period is from 9th October to 30th November 2023. Deadline for submission is 30th November 2023 at 11:59pm HKT (UTC +8).
Each entrant is eligible for multiple submissions in this photo contest, but only one photo can qualify for a prize for each winner
Participants must provide their full names as shown on their ID cards (for identity verification when receiving awards), valid phone numbers and email address for communication purposes. The Winners' personal information (including name, mobile and email address) may be passed to event sponsor for the fulfilment of the Prize.
Staff of the organizer and the judging panel are not allowed to enter the photo contest.
The organizer reserves the right to examine the original photograph/source material to confirm compliance with the rules of this contest.
Photos can be taken with film cameras, digital cameras or smartphone and must be in digital format without watermarks, in .jpg or .jpeg format, and should be at least 5 megapixels, file size of all entries must be within 20MB. Participants cannot submit images generated by artificial intelligence (AI). All submitted photos must be original works taken by the participants themselves. Any photos suspected of being AI-generated or created by automated programmes will be disqualified.
Minor edits such as cropping, dust removal, reasonable adjustments to exposure, colour, contrast and white balance are acceptable. Computer-generated or heavily edited work will not be accepted.
Each photo must be an original work taken by the participant. It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure that the photo has been taken with the subject's permission if humans are featured and does not infringe upon any third-party rights or laws. Animal welfare is of paramount importance in this contest and participants should always ensure the animal's safety and well-being during the whole process.
By entering the competition, each entrant grants the organiser and its authorised persons a fully paid-up, royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, edit, display, transmit, modify, publish and otherwise make use of each of the submitted photos for any of its publications, websites and/ or in any promotional material connected to the competition, in all media (whether now known or to be created at any subsequent time wherever in the world), without compensation and without notice to or reference to the participant.
Each submission must not contain content that is illegal, suspected of animal cruelty or abuse, indecent, disturbing, provocative, offensive, intrusive, defamatory, or discriminatory of race, religion, gender or age.
Judges will evaluate entries based on creativity, emotion, technique and relevance. Potential winners may need to provide the original photograph/source material for verification before winners are announced.
The organiser is not responsible for any delays, losses, mistakes, or unidentified issues due to technical problems with computers or networks.
The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any individual found violating the competition's rules, causing harm to animals during the process, tampering with the entry process, acting disruptively, or with intent to undermine the competition's legitimacy. The organiser reserves the right to seek legal remedies to the fullest extent permitted by law.
By participating in the photo contest, the participant agrees to abide by the terms and conditions. In case of any dispute, the organiser and the judges reserve the right to make the final decision which shall be final and binding.
In the event of any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions of the above terms and conditions, the English version shall prevail.
